I am trying to get her cool and have given her Calpol and water to drink and she is lying next to me with fan on and sheet over her.

How old is she?

DS1 had a temp of 39.8 a 2 weeks ago with no other symptoms. It was scary for about 14 hours but came down eventually after a dose of ibuprofen.

She will probably be OK unless she is getting floppy and unresponsive or having trouble breathing. Have you checked for rashes and that sort of thing?

Phone NHS Direct if you are really worried but chances are she will be OK.

Trust your instinct. My DS was 8 but if he had been a baby I wouldn't have left him so long.

She is 3
Has been ill for a few days ,hence other thread ,it was suggested that it may be Scarlet fever.
Her feet looked purple and were very slow to colur when pressed. This was concerning me but they look red now.

Their extremities can get very cold when they have a fever which might explain the purpleness.

I think I would check with NHS Direct though, if I were you.

If she has been poorly for a few days she will probably be fine to be left until morning for the doctors but I would still call somebody as she is still quite young.

Thanks Niecie

She still has a temp although down to 38.5 now.
I really think she has scarlet fever now despite her rash being hardly there now,she has a white tongue with red spots.

Have got appointment at 12 for her.

I always start to think about seeing a Dr if they still have very high temps a few days into a virus. I hope the Dr appointment went OK.
