chicken pox & school

Does anyone know what the deal is with school and chicken pox? Every book or site I look on seems to say something different. DT1 (5 years) is v proud of fact he now has 96 spots, and seemingly no other symptoms. Am wondering how long he needs to stay off for. This might be the (spotty) lull before the feverish storm, who knows, as we're only on day 2 of spots.

When ds1 had chicken pox he had to stay off nursery until all his spots had scabbed over, that took about a week. Would be the same for school i think

I was intially told 5 daysby the school but when the saw dd they actually wanted her all scabbed over. in the end she had 13 days off until they were umming and arhing and said go on then bring her back. ( they were looking at her when she had to come with me to pick ds2 up).

so my advice, ask the school when they want her back

on spot count we had an extra 100 come up ( yes we had to count) on days 3 and 4.. a grand total of 441 by the end. ( probably why she spent so long waiting for them all to scab up!)

Health Protection Agency advice is 5 days after spots but best to double check with the school

DT1 is obsessed with numbers, so loves the fact there are more and more to there every time we count. 441 wow! thank you all v much for advice, let's hope if his twin sister's going to get it she catches it from him pronto.
