Feed as normal with diarrhoea?

DS (4.10 yrs) has had the runs since Thursday. He is absolutely fine in between, running around and full of life but then he says his tummy hurts and goes to the loo and has the runs. He has no nausea or vomiting and the poo (sorry TMI!) although loose is still formed and there isn't much of it.

He went a few times Friday and Saturday and slept all night last night but then went first thing this morning. I have been letting him eat when he is hungry and whatever he fancies, mainly toast, crackers, grapes, cereal. I thought he'd be on the mend by now - should I not be feeding him with diarrhoea? I wondered if I was contributing to the runs by letting him eat? He is drinking lots too.

He has had tummy bugs before with vomiting but these seem to only last a couple of days and then he is back to normal. Its strange because he is so lively and normal and then his tummy hurts and he remembers he has the runs.

He has a party at 3 today but unfortunately won't be going. Should probably stay off school tomorrow too- he'll be gutted!

No to the grapes.

Stick to the BRAT diet for a few days:
bread
rice
apple - cooked and apple juice
toast

and let him drink as much as he wants.
