I've never seen so much wax!

Her hearing seems fine but I'm picking a lump of wax out of each ear every other week or so and her earholes look like there's a permanent build up of orange wax around them.

My DD1 never had anything like this so I'm kinda thinking it might not be normal.

Just wondering what I should do. Thanks x

DD had this a lot. I think it can be normal. Having said that, DD has ear infections quite a bit and I wondered if there's a connection? Be interested to hear what others say.

i had this with my son and the doctor said to leave it, the more we cleaned it the worse it would get she said. he is 2 now and still gets abit but not as much, hope this helps.

Soft or hard ear wax is genetically determined - yes, somebody did v clever research to find this out !

So, do not worry, this is just her kind of ear wax, quite normal and good for getting dust and stuff out of ear canals - this is what ear wax is for.

Remember, never stick anything smaller than your elbow into your (or her) ear .

I clean my son's ears most nights (just the outside' bit IYSWIM) but there is always a little earwax. If I cleaned them weekly, I'm sure it would be AWFUL.

I asked my HV and she said it's perfectly normal and I should do nothing more than keep his ears clean...

He doesn't suffer from ear infections, BTW. (He's 9 motnhs old)

Great. I had wondered whether it was a sign she might be prone to ear infections but sounds like it's fairly normal then.

Thanks everyone for that
