Broken Finger?????

Ds1(5) has slammed his little finger in the door. How do I know if it is broken? He can move it, but it looked pretty flat when it came out. It isn't too swollen and he has stopped crying but it is painful

It sounds really painful, but from your description (moving and stopped crying) it doesn't sound broken. If you're really worried you could take him to the doc,but as long as it's straight and doesn't need resetting or anything they probably wouldn't do much. They may possibly just strap it to the next finger. Why not put ice on it now and see how it seems in the morning?
