Wondering if anyone can help me, my 3 year old attends nursey 3 mornings a week and for the past few months has caught the hand, foot and mouth virus, impertigo (the skin rash - may have spelt it wrong), conjunctivitus and has had a runny nose for over a month now, he constantly seems to get over 1 thing and then within a day or so gets something else, it feels as though i cant remember when he was well, i took him to the gp who said she was 99.9% sure it was just one of those things but at his nursery no one else has been off much so its just my son, im really worried its something serious, also he has lost a little bit of weight (not enough for the gp to be concerned about at the mo) i have a 1 year old who catches nothing - please any advice would be really appreciated

is the 1 year old in nursery?

i have a nearly 3 year old in nursery and particularly during the winter months he is constantly ill. we have high fevers/virus at least every few weeks, often requiring antibiotics and a few days at home. i wouldn't want to minimise your situation and if you really do think something is wrong, then stick to your gut. having said that my ds is always getting ill. it seems like one of those things that happens with kids who go to nurseries.

They catch bugs when around other children. It helps their immune system to recognise illnesses so they can get rid of them. Some kids just catch more then another, if they are healthy at other times then this is normal. If they are eating, not overly sleepy and no other symptoms of something going on then try not to worry. In a nursery environment where they are mixing with other children they also mix with their bugs. You can't do anything about this.

The first 6 months my dd was in nursery, she had 12 colds, in fact one every two weeks and they seem to be constant cos they ran into one another. She missed loads of nursery.
