I'm not sure what to do about DS2 after yesterday's sickness.

He wasn't sick after about 8am, and lay in bed till lunchtime then ont eh sofa until 6 when he went to bed without a fuss. He has slept all night, but since waking has told me that his tummy "really really hurts" and is bent over double.
Now whilst I know he was genuinely ill yesterday, he also doesn't like school, and we have the "I have a sore tummy" routine every morning. So I don't know if he does still ahve a sore tummy or not.

Well if you are following the 48 hr rule, then he shouldn't be back until tomorrow anyway.

Sympathies, because I've found (as have others) that genuine sickness can be (understandably) seen as a future get-out-of-school card if the child is feeling iffy about school anyway.

I'd go with the 48 hour thing personally. So whether he's actually in pain or not, keep him off 48 hours after last vom.

that way you're covered anyway!

I would give him the benefit of the doubt for today tbh. Most schools say give it 48 hours after last bout of sickness anyway.

but I would also go out of my way to make today as boring and uneventful as I could. He stays in bed, no games consoles or tv.

And tomorrow if he still hasn't been sick I would send him in regardless.

Beyond that you probably need to speak to the school again, it sounds like he is having a rough time there.

Hope he feels better soon.

manky - I've just left a post for you on my thread from yesterday about my employers and their sickness policy.

Ok I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and keep him at home, and hope that DS1, if he gets it at least waits until the weekend so I don't need to take any time off work again

you should always leave it 24 hrs anyway and there is sickness going about when sickness stop diarrhea starts so maybe just leave today and if all well tomorrow send to school

saltire, I have had the sore tummy thing with my boys, ds1 was off school recently with this then wanted to go out to play!

its so hard, then dh comes home and says I would have sent him in and we start a fight

I told dh to go part time and I'd go full time so he can deal with the sore tummy mornings when you're panicking about being off work AGAIN but you don't know if they are genuinely ill and you've no one to stay in with them

THE JOYS.....................
