Is this chickenpox?

I noticed a few spots on my daughters neck, tummy and back yesterday - my s in law came to see and thought it was chickenpox so we kept her off nursery - they do look a bit watery as if you could squeeze them. My s in law said she would wake up covered in them today but if anything she has only about 5 more and that is it - so no more then say 20 in total - does anyone think is/is not chicken pox? I don't need to keep her of school for a week if it is not you see. Thanks

Sounds like chickenpox to me

My DS only had around 20 for the whole duration.

Yes, it could be. Another sign they sometimes (not always) get is a very high temp just before the spots erupt. ds had a sudden temp of 40 for about 3 hrs, then it just went away. He was knackered afterwards and slept for 14 hrs straight through and when he woke up he was spotty.

If there was no temp doesn't mean it isn't, but it might be another indicator.

Do they look a bit like flea bites? My DS's looked like that at first.

Sorry - also meant to add that DS1 only had about 5 the first day, a few more the second day and then tons appeared on day 3 and 4.

thanks all - she will be off until the weekend - that gives 4 dsys to see what else appears!

Yeap sound like chicken pox my dd1 only ever had at the most 40/50

with ds we stopped counting at 100

and poor dd2 had so many, it would have been easier to count the bits that had no spots
