Hi,

My daughter always has a constant cold, it is just one cold after another with no break in between, and now she has a cough.

I've been advised to give her vitamins with minerals. At the moment she has Abidec for ages 1 to 5. (She is 20 months)

Just wondering if anyone could recommend another product.

When I speak to various professionals etc. they do say that children can have eight colds a year, but this is no lie, my daughter has one constant cold.

Any advice would be grateful.

Are you sure it's a cold then and not an allergy to something in the environment. DD had a constant cold till we ditched washing powder (we use ecoballs now) and the cold vanished overnight never to return. She still gets seasonal colds but nothing continuous anymore.

Most of the toddlers I know have continual colds from about October until April. Their immune systems are undeveloped and reach maturity around the age of 7. Who told you to give her a supplement? They won't make any difference unless she is a seriously poor eater.
Sorry if that sounds dismissive. It's not mea t that way- trust me, I am worn out by the constant nose wiping and cuddling all day and night. We ended up taking a break from playgroup for a few weeks just to get a break.

She had a hearing test yesterday and she has mild to moderate hearing loss, which may be due to glue ear, and the paediatric doctor said to introduce minerals as well as the vitamins she takes. So they want her to see a nose, ear and throat specialist.

In that case I would ask the paediatrician for a recommendation. They vary hugely in quality.

Hope she gets her appointment through soon.

She has another appointment at the hospital next week, so I will ask a peadiatrician then.

Thanks
