In December we all had a regular dental checkup. I think I posted about it at the time because the dentist we saw basically made me feel like a crap mum.

Anyway, during the appointment she said she woud refer Dd2 (9) to an orthadontist as her teeth are very overcrowded and stick out quite a way.

Then she also said she wanted to refer Ds (6) as his top front milk teeth are in danger of digging into ihs bottom gum when his mouth is shut.

Hadn't heard anything since from either the dentists or where ever she had referred them too, and so I've just rung to be told that the dentist didn't make the referals at all and she has now left the practice.

I've now got to take them back on the 18th to see someone else and see if they will refer them both.

Sounds like the dentist was no good and got sacked! I would question their judgement if I were you. I have a 9 year old (well, 9 this month) dd with a very overcrowded mouth and the dentist has said she will need orthodontic work later but she is too young for it as yet. I found that both my older sons' overcrowding problems improved as they grew to the point where no orthodontic work is currently considered necessary.

The thing is I do want Dd refering asap as her teeth dig into her lip causing sores and she also gets bullied alot. She will definatly need work on her teeth.

Ds I am not sure about as although I coud see what she meant I am not 100% sure it was areally a problem.

I'm just so annoyed that she didn't do what she said and Dd2 will be really dissapointed that the referal didn't happen.

My canines used to stick over my lip when I smiled - I didn't have any work done until I was 14. I appear to have very strong teeth - moving them took ALOT of traction (more than the orthodentist had had to use before) and was painful - so I am glad that I wasn't any younger.
