When do I need to worry about a rash in a baby?

My DS (11mo) is having a horrid time teething at the moment so is in a lot of discomfort.

In the last couple of days he has developed a runny nose and is sneezing so I think that he has also got a virus, and yesterday a faint rash appeared all over his body but particularly his face. He has no temperature and isn't itchy. I don't think he is in discomfort from this so much as just his teeth.

I thought it was just a cold, but now with the rash I'm wondering if I should go to doctors. Should I always go to the doctors with a rash, or are they so common that it is only if there are other symptoms that I need to worry? As I said, no temperature and discomfort appears to be largely from his teeth.

Hiya, Trouble is you are right - rashes can be something or nothing... personally if its not a rash I had already seen on that child b4 I would go to the gp. (one of my children gets a facial rash every time when teething, the 1st time I took him in to gp.)

better to be safe that sorry especially with the cases of measles etc on the up..

thanks. if it's not down tomorrow will take him to the gp. MIL thought it could be teething rash yesterday (started on face), but he has it all over his body now so not sure.
