8mo often has a really runny nose - why and what can I do?

Over the past few months, my 8mo DS has often had a few days with a really runny nose. My god, you should the rivers of snot that come flying out when he sneezes!!

I don't think they have been colds and no teeth have made an appearance as yet - is there anything else it could be?

Also, what can I do to help him sleep? We were just getting him to sleep longer stretches at night (he's BF and the little sod was wanting it every hour and a half throughout the night a few weeks ago but last few nights has gone 4-5 hours in one hit) and how he's all runny again and having difficulty sleeping. Do vaporisers work on this sort of thing? I wish I could give something like Medised, but I know I can't.

Any hints, tips or advice very welcome indeed!

When DD has a cold we use the vaporiser thing as well as a humidifier.

If your DS doesn't move you could also prop up the head end of his cot.

Also you can get snuffle babe (like vicks for babies).

they just do it sometimes - 2-day colds with only snot and no other symptoms

vaporisers are good for blocked noses rather than runny ones but migth be worth a bash, or just a couple of drops of olbas oil in a bowl of hot water

prop up head end of cot so it at least drips out rather than down his throat
