gunky eyes

one of dd1's eyes has started producing lots of gunk.

I don't have any eye drops, nor can I go and get any today.

what can I use to bathe her eye with?

is slightly salty water ok?

it's not massively gunky, but would like to knock it on the head, if possible, before it really takes hold...

How old is DD? We are currently conjunctivitis central here!

Think salty water weak solution is good. Used cool boiled water though.
Hope it clears up soon.

Cool boiled water is what the GP recommended for my DD as she's only four months. I am also squirting breast milk in her eye, which is why I asked how old your DD is!

dd1 is 4.6. really cool boiled water? can I substitute filtered water?

dd2 (just 2) had a gunky eye a couple of weeks ago, and before I could get around to doing anyhting about it, it cleared up. I was

will go and rummage for some salt, then contemplate how I am going to pin dd1 down to bathe her eye...

oh yes, used to use breastmilk.

but stopped feeding dd2 6 months ago, so not much hope of that, although it is magic - clears it up brilliantly.
