my 4y old looked a bit peaky when I picked him up from preschool yesterday morning. After lunch he had diaroehea and then was really violently sick on the way home about 4pm - everything from breakfast onwards came up. We didnt give him any tea, just some water at bedtime as he was thirsty - all came back up in the night. This morning he is very flat and lethargic but crying that he is thirsty and hungry. I have been giving him some small sips of water and then let him have a small square of buttered toast - almost instantly threw up with all the water and was retching bile.
I am getting worried about him going so long without food and water - how long can you leave it before you worry about them getting dehydrated? Is there any other food I can try?
What are these weird bugs? Thing is I had it 2 weeks ago but it only lasted 24hrs so I was quite weak the next day but then ok when the food started staying down again - he is so much littler! I phoned the GP and they are going to call me back after lunch - I guess they will bring him in to check he isnt dehydrated this afternoon if I cant get anything to stay down. Is this this rota noro virus business?
