In my experience it's not v contagious. My DS (9 mths) has had it twice in the last 6 weeks and neither me nor my DH nor his little cousin (also 9 mths and who he played with whilst ill) caught it. Apprently it can be viral or bacterial so like any bug lots of handwashing etc would make sense to help prevent infection but not sure how helpful that is for you with a little one to think about.

My dh ad it a couple of weeks ago and me and Dd were fine (dh was obviously at death's door ).

I've had it on and off for a year, neither my DS nor DH got it.
