Is he wiping himself - or using any toddler wipes? Sometimes they can cause a rash. If so, try not using them. If he's only using loo roll he may not be getting himself quite clean and again that can cause irritation.

Also, check your potty - if he's weeing on the potty rim then sitting on it for any period of time he will get a rash.

Maybe - could be that his new pants are chafing him - are they polyester? Have you washed them before wearing them? Could you try washing some without powder to see if that's the problem - if he's had disposable nappies, his bum skin has never been exposed to the detergents from the powder.

DD got a rash btw from the frills on her knickers - turned out the frilly edges were 90% nylon (mmm nice not ).

Try putting some dreamcream from Lush on it. My ds has had awful skin from birth and it's the only thing that works all over his body, including if he ever gets nappy rash. It will rub right in, unlike Metanium, which would be my other suggestion for nappy rash.

could be pants i spose but mostly indoors bare bummed
im gonna try the bapanthen then if it doesnt clear up soon i will take him to gp

If it's really bad, paint on whipped egg white last thing at night and let it dry on (it dries in a minute or so don't worry). Will cure it overnight - I know it sounds odd but really works.

My dd couldnt sit on the potty cos she went red, could it be the potty? She had an allergy to the plastic, i just went straight to a padded toilet seat and it cured itself
