Not sure what to do for sick DD

DD (nearly 2) was sick in her bed on Thursday night and I only realised in the morning . She continued to vomit all day but managed to keep 2 rice cakes down last night. She is keeping water down now. She had a fever in the night, but that has gone down a bit now. She is very floppy and weak...I know I would be after not eating for so long. She keeps falling asleep and will perk up for about 5 minutes when she wakes up. She has had two spoons of cereal and a nibble of a slice of apple on 2 different occasions so far today. After each one she has gone all weak and wont talk to me. She seems to find passing wind painful, but she hasn't vomited or opened her bowels. I'm not sure what to do to help her, as I can't really work out whats wrong. I suppose that a fever tires you out as does not eating, but I am not sure if its anything worse.
No rash by the way.

Any advice?

I would just keep up with the fluids..she might well be sick again too, my DD has had a bug all week where she would be sick, then seem ok but a bit weak all day then be sick again..it only progressed into proper being sick last night.

I would say fluids are much more important than food at the moment, let her stomach rest a bit.

I keep giving fluids, but I am worried about how weak she is. Is that normal after a fever and sickness? I suppose it is...
She just wants to be in my arms all the time and DS is getting very bored.

IME it is VERY normal, my DD is like that any time she is sick. Any time we have taken her to be checked out they just say to keep up with the fluids and Calpol and ride it out. They only really worry if they show signs of dehydration or are not keeping fluids down. A GP told me that they don't worry about not eating until it's been a month!!! as long as they are taking fluids.

I would just give it a day or two...hard I know. It's a bit scary I feel like a veteran of illness and my DD is only 2.4!!!! My sympathies are with you!

Dioralyte sachets are also very good, you get them from the chemist and mix them with water, it replaces all their lost salts and minerals and things, and they don't seem to mind the taste!!

DD had a similar bug a couple of weeks ago and it lasted 5 days. She barely ate anything during those 5 days and was very sleepy - it was very strange to have my usual dynamo-like never napping DD sleep on my lap several days in a row. I kept her fluid intake up by giving diluted juice instead of water and she happily had some fruit jelly which stayed down. Luckily she didn't have a temperature and is back to her normal self now. I did call NHS Direct after she'd been ill for 4 days just to check that I didn't need to take her to the GP and they advised me that current medical advice is no longer to avoid milk with stomach bugs but I'd decided not to give her any as it was obviously making her vomit.

Hope your DD is better soon.

Ok...5 days of this now and DD is quite floppy today. She has so little energy, which is understandable, I suppose. I just cannot decide if she is totally fed up and blaming me or if she is quite ill. NHS direct suggest getting a doctor assessment only when she hasn't done a wee for 8 hours...the trouble is that through the night its hard to tell. Her nappy had a very tiny amount of wee, but she hasn't been since.

To top it all...I've got it now too.
