I know when babies are born they have swollen breasts but my DD is now 6 months old and they are hard lumps now, is this normal? Don't want to look stupid going to the doctor for nothing!!

Just tell the GP anyway- she's a baby and they won't mind. sorry no more help, just wanted to answer. I'm sure others who have experienced similar will be along at some point

My ds had this when he was born for about 2 months I think- it felt very strange! I was told it was just hormonal and it would go away, but to sqeeze them!! if I wanted it to go faster. Sure enough, I squeezed and the lumps disappeared. It looked like milk came out. It didn't seem to hurt him when I did it but it did look odd

I seem to remember something like this but mine are older, and you DO forget all the things that once worried you etc.

Dd had this at about a year old. We saw a consultant paediatrician who said that it was a hormonal thing. Apparently it can take up to 2 years for a mother's hormones to leave a baby's body. I queried this as I had only breastfed for a month, but was assured that it was true.

Sure enough, the lumps disappeard by the time dd was 18 months old.
