MMR/measles rash - quick replies appreciated!

DS had his MMR jab 16 days ago - nursery called me yesterday to say he had a rash all over his torso. I explained about the vaccination so they said they'd keep an eye on it - an hour later they called back to say it had spread and he was scratching it, so DH left work early to go and pick him up.

Having googled, it does look like a typical measles rash, which is common after the vaccine isn't it? Does he need to see the doctor today? If so I need to get onto the phone now to make an appt. I've already got a hospital appt and a GP appt for myself today, so if he doesn't need to see anyone that would be best. Or would it be cheeky to take him to my appt this afternoon and ask the GP to have a quick look?

Hi, sounds like a typical reaction but might be worth just having him tag along for the ride to your GP this afternoon or just calling your surgery to see if you can speak to someone.

I'm sure and hope all is well and normal for you, good luck with your busy day !!

I have taken DD with me before now when I have appointments at the GP's. I always mention it to the receptionist when I go in and they have a word with our doctor, who has always (only happened twice) seen DD.

I think when it comes to young DC then the doctors are quite flexible.

Other than that try ringing your GP surgery and explaining the situation they may be able to get you an appointment close to yours today.

I hope your DS feels better soon.

Thanks for the replies - they do have an hour each day where you can call up to speak to a nurse so I may just do that to confirm whether he needs to see anyone. He seems quite happy in himself, no temperature, sleeping and eating fine.

I was expecting him to get a rash last week if he was going to get one at all, came a bit out of the blue!
