Ookay, I don't usually worry about small knocks to the head, but DD just launched herself off the chair onto her head.

DD is 14.5mo and extremely mobile, she climbed on to the chair int he living room and before wither DH or I could get to her launched herself off it and landed on her head.

Cue lots of crying, tears and screaming, she did that things when they cry and it looks like they are not going to breath again.

We have managed to calm her down, but she has fallen straight to sleep. We are keeping an eye on her, but should we wake her?

I am not sure of the signs I should look for if there is a problem.

When my DS went to hospital with concussion this is what the signs were that we were told to look for..

If she is asleep, gently try and rouse her. If she mumbles or turns over or generally rises to almost consiousness then she is ok. If you cant rouse her at all then get her checked.

Also if she wakes and is sick, get her checked.

When my Ds got concussion he fell asleep and although he was rousable, he got sick when he woke up so I took him to the hospital.
They checked him and he seemed fine with their tests so they sent us home, but he was sick several more times and we had to go back for further observation.

So either of those signs, get her checked.

throwing up
seeming spaced out
difficult to rouse
if sleeping - wake up if funny colour or breathing funny
slurred speach
unequal sized pupils
weakness or dizzyness
neck pain or stiffness
seizure
wetting or crapping self!

although with toddler, slurred speech and soiling self is par for the course so perhaps disregard them!

oh, there's also senstivity to light, extreme tiredness and being particularly irritable.

DD has just woken up, she kinda seems okay, but is very clingy and keeps screaming really high pitched. Not sure if that's a normal thing for a toddler though. She hasn't been sick.

Hi if the tone of her cry has changed I would get her see by out of hours GP or at A&E.
Most bounces to the floor by toddlers are fine but with a change like that it is probably best to make sure she is Ok, hth.
