Help! 8 mo with small raised spots all over arms and tummy

My ds has issues with dry skin but tbh it has been much much better recently. We are cafeful not to bathe him too often as it seems to make the problem worse, and he hasn't been in the bath fro a couple of days. I have just stripped him off after getting his dinner everywhere, and his arms and tummy are covered in spots. They are almost like skin tags, not red or anything, but definately raised and in quite a big amount. He seems alright in himself. I haven't changed washing powder or anything Do I just assume its going to be another issue with his skin? Or could it be somehting else?

Hi dbcodpiece. Whatever it is, it is very unlikely to be measles, rubella or chicken pox. None of these illnesses typically result in a rash on the arms. The symptoms don't sound much like any other infectious illness. Maybe a call to NHS Direct would be reassuring? Just in case it turns out to be something nasty, I wouldn't want to divert you, but my DS also has dry skin issues and often flares up with angry-looking spots which used to alarm me on a regular basis. We don't bath him any more - we shower him since he got old enough to not mind the water in the face thing - it is much less drying and he has less flare-ups. Hope he is OK.

We are going to the health visitor tomorrow to get him weighed so I will mention it hten but tbh baseed ontheir previous advice they are not clued up at all on skin problems and even my GP seems a bit vague. It's so difficult. When he was born his skin was a mess, he spent the first 3 or 4 months covered in red spots and peeling skin Just when we seem to have it figured out it goes and surprises us again!
