DD has had runny bottom 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Each time it I have given her diorlite rehydration salts, and each time she's only been on the toilet once, or twice - 3 times at the most. She has no other symptoms, but our nursery said I have to keep her home for 24 hours after it clears. This means she's been missing at least a day of school each week.

The worst time she had it was last summer, for about 48 hours when we were in Germany. A chemist gave me the rehydration stuff and some other powders which helped. Had it continued I would have looked for a doctor, but she took the medicine and cleared up in a couple of days.

Between Germany and now, DD only had diorhea one other time,in January (they said she had it in December but it turned out that she just pooped herself cos she was too lazy to go to the loo.). But the last 2 weeks she seems to get it for a day and then get better.

At this rate I'll have to get a doctors note.

Does anyone know if there are lots of runny bottom bugs going around? As I said mostly there are no other symptoms, and I end up keeping her off school when she seems fine.

thanks

This is chronic diarrhoea. You need to take your DD to the doctor for a proper examination, diagnosis and treatment.
