Chickenpox - how likely is it that my son has it?

A friends son has CP, his spots came out today, my son was around him for a couple of hours on Tues & Wed and spent the day at the same nursery on Friday.
Just how infectious is it?
I read that there are coldlike symptons before the rash develops - but as DS has had a runny nose for about 6 weeks...
Any opinions welcome, thanks

I would say not likely. You are only infectious the day before the spots appear.

You are infectious about 2 days before the spots come out and remain infectious until they have all burst and scabbed over - so I would say very unlikely if as it has been 4 or 5 days since any contact

Who knows, my eldest was round chicken pox loads before eventually getting it.

Thanks all - don't really mind if he gets CP, do think that advance warning is always good!!
