My son was born with a mole on his arm- a mole but a kind of birthmark that has grown in proportion to his body. Other than this it hasn't chamged but it has an irreglar adge and is bigger than a 5p and has got tiny black spots on it. Has anyone elses child got one of these and what have yu done about it??? Does it need to be monitored>>>

I have a big one on my leg, about 5p size. I would say keep checking for changes in colour and shape, but sounds ok to me. Make sure covered with sunscreen if out in sun.

Just ask your GP to take a look - they will get a Dermatologist to have a look if necessary, but may just be able to reassure you straight away.

(My DS has a birthmark on the sole of his foot! It has grown with him but no black specs.)

Hiya, my son has a large brown birthmark on his arm, its just noted in his red book and was checked at routine baby checks.

DS2 has one on his face and I have one on my wrist. Doctor (and hosp) have looked at DS2's said there's nothing really to worry about, but to make sure protected from sun and go back if any changes.

From a cosmetic point of view, I would strongly recommend the line my dad took. Mine was always known as my beauty spot when I was a child and I became quite fond and proud of it. By the time I reached an age where it might have bothered me, I was secure in the knowledge it was part of what made me "special" Sounds cheesy, but really very true.
