exposed to chicken pox: does that mean ds can't go to groups for 3 weeks?!?

A friend's baby, that we saw Saturday, came down with chicken pox overnight last night. ds chewed her toys, so definitely exposed, but reading online, incubation period is 10-20 days! Does that mean he must stay home from baby groups for 3 weeks? Don't want to infect anyone, but can't handle 3 weeks indoors with a running around 1 year old!

He is still bf, I had the pox as a child, am hoping that might help?

No. You only need to stay in IF he gets spots...and even then it is only 5 days from appearance of first spot.

Phew! Thanks. Have postponed his 12 month jabs too, just in case.

My dcs were exposed to chicken pox at least 5 times before they eventually came down with it. I put us in isolationg a few times and really, really, really wish I hadn't bothered. When my dd eventually caught it, I had no idea where or who it had come from.

If I were you, I would just carry on as normal.

another vote for carrying on - DD has been exposed several times and not got it yet.
