1 year old - teeth grinding - really badly - what if he damages teeth?

My 1 year old is late teether - he now has top fromt 2 teeth (huge) and bottom front 2 teeth. He grinds then together all the time - it sounds awful like nails being dragged on black board. I think he may be damaging the tops of them - difficult to see - is this something I need to be concerned with? Any suggestions as to how to stop him doing this? Thank you

dd (18m) still does this occasionally - I think it's a teething thing and the grinding eases the soreness of the teeth under the gum

sounds awful but I haven't noticed any damage yet

My DS does the same - he has 2 and a half teeth ! and since the top one started to come through he takes great pleasure in grinding them - he is 12 months as well. I was speaking to other mums and their babies all did/do the same - none of them had any suggestions about how to stop it ! I am hoping he will just grow out of doing it........

my nearly 10mnth ds does the same thing. He has two on the bottom and four on the top, so i've been worrying about the bottom ones. It doesn't sound as though this is unusual. Maybe he just likes the sound of it? If it causes him any discomfort i'm sure he won't keep doing it, but if it doesn't stop in a few weeks, maybe ask your dentist. They'll be the best ones to know.
