How long does a viral rash last for?

DS1 started to get a rash on his face on Saturday, spread slightly Sunday so went to the Dr on Monday to be told it was 'viral'. It's on his face, back and front. nothing on his arms or legs (as yet)
How long might it will last?
We've been advised to keep him off school till it starts to clear.
Could he still be contagious?

Bumping for you.

Just a couple of days ime.. I had understood that the child is actually better once the rash has appeared, so not contagious.. Correct me if I´m wrong!

That's what I thought.
Well the rash is still there. May take him back to the Dr's if it hasn't cleared over the weekend

Think my baby has the same thing - the nurse said that it's not now contagious. Think she has done her damage to others already

Oooops!
DS1 will be 4 next month.
