My ds had a tummy bug last sunday/monday with vomiting and diarrhoea. Since tuesady night after he has been to sleep for approx 4 hours he coughs slightly then vomits everywhere. This just happens the once then he goes straight back to sleep. He has an ENT appointment in 4 weeks time due to abnormally large tonsils and is always ill with throat/chest infections, do you think this is related or do we need ( yet another ) gp appointment?

All I can say is that dd, 2.2, often vomited when coughing. Not even tummy-related bugs, just colds with coughs type bugs. And often just the once, a few hours after going to sleep, then would be ok again. She had reflux as a baby, so I guess she still has a sensitive gag-reflex, but tonsils probably played a part too:

dd was virtually choking on hers, and at all her ENT appointments the various nurses and doctors said coughing at night was probably due to her tonsils. She had them out ten days ago.

If you're worried, go back to GP, but if he seems well apart from the night cough/vomit, I would guess its a mixture of leftover cough/mucous from the bug he had, plus tonsils not helping. Has he ever had reflux, just as another thought??

Thanks so much Elibean, he had terrible reflux as a baby after almost every bottle but was never ill with it thank god.
I was reading your thread about the tonsilectomy just in case and found it very helpful if a little scary!
Only 4 weeks to wait to find out if we have to go through it too.
did your dd get constant throat/cheast/cold infections with the huge tonsils?
