Is there anything I can do to boost DS's immune system?

DS1 (2.2) gets asthma attachs triggered by cold visuses. The last one left him hospitalised last weekend so I'm keen to try anything to avoid it happening again.

His asthma medication has been reviewed, and time will tell whether this will help or not.

In the meantime, I need to try and stop him catching colds! (easier said than done)

I've read the info from the DoH 'Catch it, Bin it, Kill it' campaign, and we're getting rid of snotty tissues, and we're all washing our hands more often. The 'catch it' part is harder with a toddler, but we try ( though I need the rest of the world to try too, ideally!)

He eats a reasonable diet, plenty of fruit etc.

Anything else I can try? Can you give echinacea (sp?) to kids this age? Is it worth it?
