Congestion on left lung

Dr said DS2 (6months) has congestion on his left lung and prescribed antibiotics. Am I right in thinking that she means "chest infection" in non-doctor speak?

Also, any suggestions as to what I can do to help relieve his burbly chest and shallow breathing until AB's kick in?

my lo has had several episodes of upper respiratory illness. possibly bronchiolitis. has had antiobiotics 3 times now for chest or throat infections as a result.
u could try carvol capsules in his room at night or a a humidifier. Both of these i have found helped.
eventually tho he was prescribed an inhaler which also helps a lot.

She said the congestion was in his lung, not in his throat. Is that bronchiolitus?
Asthma runs in the family but Dr said the wheezing was the congestion.

bronchiolitis is infection of the bronchiols in the lungs.
its very very common. look it up on nhs or similar website.
repeated episodes can increase likelyhood of asthma apparently.
im no doc. gp will know best im sre

I used to work on a paediatric medical ward a few years ago, and babies with bronchiolitis were the most common admission in the winter months We used to cuddle them a lot and pat their backs gently - a bit like mini physio - kind of gets all the snot up - not very nice, but better out than in! Also, the patting is very, very comforting. Good luck

Oh yes, we a patting like there is no tomorrow!
I know he's shifting a lot of the gunk because his nappies are so mucousy.
