DD had cold and cough for last week. Sytarted bringing up mucus. Doc prescribed Amoxycillan. Had her first dose last nite. This morning, her face and neck were all red and blotchy. Could this be the antibiotics? Unsure if I should give her another dose?

Call the Gp

That does sound like a penicillin allergy (I am allergic). How old is she? I would ring out of hours GP and ask advice, but prob stop the antibiotics until you've checked with GP.

deffo ring the dr's.

this is what happened to mum when she found out was allergic.

She is 9 months, and this is the first time she has had antibiotics. Think I will call NHS 24 then. She does seem a lot brighter generally this morning, but was just worried about blotchiness. Didn't want to overreact.

tbh my feeling is you can't over react when it comes to your child health (within reason obv) as after all we're not medical people.

My daughter also had an allergic reaction to amoxycillin at about 18mths old. She had a rash and I didn't twig it might be a reaction and carried on giving it to her. It got quite a lot worse, with big red wealds(sp?) all over her body, and her face in particular swelled up quite a lot. So it's definitely worth getting advice.

She's fine, now 11, and hasn't had penicillin since.
