when would you send a child back to school after chickenpox, both of mine came down with it on tuesday afternoon, and they stopped getting new blisters on thursday? thanks

It is normally when the spots dry up and crust over. That is normally after about a week.

thanks, so probably not monday then!! was thinking wednesday if they are scabbed over?

The official HPA advice is 5 days after the appearance of the first spot. So they could go back Sunday....but you are probably better off waiting until Monday !

My ds had it so mildly that first spot appeared on a sunday and he was back at school all crusted the next Thursday.

DD had it much more severely i.e. the spots kept appearing for longer, and took a couple of weeks to be over it.

Some people say as soon as the spots stop coming out. Others it is when they are crusted over.
