DD (almost 8 months) has had a really high temp since Tuesday - up to 41 at one point, but comes down with neurofen & calpol (alternating them) - she has a cold and is miserable - have been to gp twice this week and chest, ears, throat all fine, they say it is a virus and to continue what we are doing (also dropped in a wee sample yesteray, said they would call in the afternoon if needed to see her, so as not heard assume is ok!) - just seems a long time to be giving her meds - anyone else LO's had this? how long is it ok to have a temp like this for? she is now taking milk and water and keeping it down thankfully!!

thanks

My dd had this at 11mo was very scary, then came out in a rash (possible measles) and was fine within a week. I found putting her in quite a warm bath and wetting her hair then letting her crawl around starkers without drying her worked the best, she was on meds as well and dr said to keep using them til she was better - that a week isn't a long time in grand scheme of things etc. I found the best thing with the cold is calpol night light/room plug in thingy, If you put it in their room an hour before bed with door shut it is full of eucalyptus and lavender smell to clear noses. Also, a friend mentioned that her dd aged 2yrs had a fit because of only having water when poorly with flu and needed sugar and salt and by putting a splash of ribena in water should keep levels up. Hope this helps at all x
