DS has been generally unwell for the last few days. He started to get spots yesterday and they are still there today but they are flat not raised or fluid filled. They are on his trunk only. They are bigger spots than just a rash. They have spread since yesterday.

What do you think?

Thanks for your replies. How much bicarbonate of soda should I put in his bath?

If it is chicken pox, you can use Eurax to help with the itching. It lasts for more than 8 hours. Both of mine refused to have baths while spotty. Not sure why.

My DS1 has just had it and DS2 has currently got it, His spots aren't really the classic blisters that DS1s were but Doc confirmed yesterday.
NHS Direct recommended Piriton for the itching, Calpol * Ibuprofen for the temp and Calamine Cream (Not lotion as it is drying) for the spots.
Hope he is OK, DS1 was quite poorly too but only for a couple of days

I think it was a post viral rash as it disappeared in 2 days with no itching. Never mind stocked up with bicarb of soda etc.

Thanks for all yu advise.

DS has just been diagnosed by the doc as having chickenpox, mentioned the cream and piriton but not the bath thing. How much do you have to put in?

chuckeyegg · 26/01/2009 13:13

My friend said she put in about a quarter of a box. Hope you DS doesn't suffer to much.

xx
