Neonatal acne

My 9 week old DS has been diagnosed with neonatal acne. Just wondering if anyone else has experience of this. GP said to keep it moisturised but advice on websites don't recommend using creams just keeping it clean. Not sure what to do for the best.

Don't do anything, it will go on its own. ds had this and looked a right minger for a few weeks!

It should go somewhere between 1 and 6 months after it first turned up (so that's nice and specific, then...). DDs lasted around 6 weeks, I think. IME just keep it clean with plain water and dry. It LOOKS as though it ought to be really irritating, but it doesn't seem to bother them.

My DD was really spotty but I followed the advice not to use a cream... she stayed spotty. My GP advised using an E45 type cream to mosturise and it cleared up within 2 days! Ask the GP to recommend a cream and give it a go, if your DS's skin reacts badly then you can always go back to water and cotton wool. I think my DD's problem lasted for much longer than necessary because I didn't want to use anything on her.

My DS went through this betti...lots of tiny teeny pimples all over his ears and neck and one cheek really badly.

I just left it till the spots had dried out and have been putting emollient cream on it since as it has made his skin very dry. A week on and his skin is starting to look lovely again.

It was about four weeks from first few spots appearing to them all drying up.
