My DS (just turned 1) was sent home from nursery with HFM yesterday

Dr saw him earlier same day and diagnosed dry skin so pleased that at least nursery are on the ball!

Has anyone else's children had it?

How long did it last for ?

How long did you keep them away from nursery/school etc?

this went round my sons class in October/November. By the time I noticed the rash he'd already been at school a good few days. Normally keeping them off 3-5 days but depends on how bad it is. If the blisters are bad in the mouth it can be painful for the child. My son had a very mild form, so by the time I noticed the few blisters they were nearly gone.

link IMPORTANT BITS!!:
Infected persons are most contagious during the first week of the illness.
The viruses that cause HFMD can remain in the body for weeks after a patient's symptoms have gone away.
