Hives?

Can someone tell me what hives are.
DD has got some red pimple things over her back.

She's just had egg for her tea, and although she's never had a reaction to egg before could this be a food reaction? Or would I expect hives/rashes to be where food has been in contact?

When dd2 had hives they looked like huge mosquito bites and they itched and they moved around her body over a few days.
She developed a reaction to some food colorings in some sweets
If it is hives then yes it probably is a reaction to something she's eaten but it could be something she ate earlier also.

It was small mosquito bite looking, but had gone by the morn and wasn't itchy.

I think it was the egg, but will monitor.

when dd had them he had huge red blotches over her whole body (reaction to perservatives docs reckoned). can goggle for pics if you're concerned. if is allergic reaction we were told is usually 2nd not first time they have contact with allergen that provokes reaction.
