MMR

Does anyone know how long it takes for the body to deal with the MMR, at what stage would your child be sympotom less!

my ds just had his mmr. the nurse said that if he was going to get any reaction to it it would be 7-10 days after the jabs. and then it shouldn't be any worse than teething.

This is the bit I'm wondering about! I need to get the Chicken Pox vaccine as well as we spend time in the states and was told 4 weeks after MMR would be fine........i'm not sure......

aaahhh. ok well, not sure about the chicken pox vaccine, sorry. it's only been a week since ds has had his mmr and is fine so far. think the nurse meant that a bit of calpol would do the trick if he did have a reaction, and then only for a couple of days.

No no you are helpful! I'm sure I was told or read that each part of the vaccine works after each other, thats why some children get measles spots around 7 days???

They react to the measles part of the jab first, within a couple of weeks. The mumps and rubella are later, anything up to 6 weeks but usually with 2-3.

DS got measles symptoms after about 10 days

Thanks Lazt and Giddy, I think I might leave it until 6 weeks after MMR. I expect he will get Chicken Pox anyway now!

I was told 10 days to 3 weeks for symptoms and they may mimic minor version of the illness - ie. rash for measles etc.

DS had rubella symptoms 6 weeks after the jab.
