Persistent diarrhoea in a 3-year-old. HELP!

DD2 has had diarrhoea 6-7 times a day.

Today marks a fortnight this has gone on.

She went to see the GP between Xmas nad New Year, and they thought it was just a rotovirus.

She just finished a course of amoxycillin for an ear infection.

But the diarrhoea is STILL with her.

She has horrendous abdominal cramps, too, and has diarrhoea even in the night - sometimes 2-3 times.

She is otherwise normal. She wants to eat and drink. It's heartbreaking because yesterday she was eating my homemade chicken nuggets and peas and pushed the plate away and said, 'I can't eat!' as cramps started.

She was already thin, but now she's really lost even more weight.

We can't get in to the see the GP till Wednesday, and meantime, she's gutted because she can't go back to nursery and play.

What the hell could be causing it to go on this long?

She's got all her teeth now, too.

My dd1 had it ongoing for months around the same age but not as often as yours, once/twice a day. GP thought maybe she was compacted but she wasn't. She's also very dainty. He couldn't find anything else wrong with her.

It seems to have more or less cleared up by itself (she was 4 in sept). She still gets the odd bout but nothing like before.

Nuisance having to wait to see gp. Hope everything is ok.

DS had this at about a year and he was compacted as soon as that was sorted out he was fine.

We had a horrible parasitic infection called Guardia a few years ago - checked by a faeces sample only. Was terrible - might be worth checking out because did otherwise feel ok-ish.
