If they are so worried why don't they go down the homeopathic route? Aparently its' very effective. (Not willing to risk it with my 3, though!)

CharCharGabor · 02/01/2009 19:28

You will get flamed for this. Leave people to make their own choices. There are (IMO) understandable reasons for some people choosing not to vaccinate.

CharCharGabor · 02/01/2009 19:29

DD is vaccinated btw.

electra · 02/01/2009 19:30

Oh god, not again. There have been two very very long threads on this in the last month. I've explained all my objections there...

JollyPirate · 02/01/2009 19:30

It's a personal choice though. I've had all imms for my son but the stuff in the papers is very scary sometimes. I'm a HV and this subject comes up alot for me at work - it's hard for parents - many feel damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Get below the parapet now chickers and prepare for the onslaught. You've just opened a right can of worms.

coppertop · 02/01/2009 19:32

I'm not anti-imms but having had one child stop breathing after a vaccination I can completely understand why some people would opt out.

JollyPirate · 02/01/2009 19:34

I think that's the true definition of an anaphylactic shock coppertop. Horrible experience.

OneLieIn · 02/01/2009 19:34

Chickers, am kind of with you. DD got measles after having the MMR and was mildly ill. One of her classmates wasn't so lucky.

But it doesn't sit well with all kids, so until they can reassure all parents that they wont have side effects etc like coppertop, parents will always opt out.

Shoshe · 02/01/2009 19:41

As a Cm I don't accept unvaccinated children.

DS1 contracted Whooping cough, before he had time to be vaccinated.

He was in hospital a long time.

h was a preemie with breathing difficulties to star with.

chickers · 02/01/2009 19:42

sorry realise its a very emotive subject as all issues are with child health. Not sure I can stop the onslaught now!!!
