Olive oil is good for cradle cap.

I wouldn't put anything on his face, really - it will go away on its own, and as I recall Sudocrem is quite fierce stuff.

You know it's just your hormones working their way out? Erkk but true.

Oh gosh dont use sudocrem for a newborn, I would also only use the dentonox after you have tried with the olive oil, cradle cap just looks bad it does not hurt them unless it gets infected. Both dentonox and sudocrem contain chemicals that are very strong.

there are lots of products out there that are more natural and better for baby.

I use a prodcut called badger balm, its organic olive oil with chamomile and its a wonderful thing, you can use it for cradle cap and for nappy area, I also use it for dry skin.

all babys look a bit 'manky' at times as they are adjusting to being outside.

Try leaving the spots alone, as with most spots the more you mess with them the worse they get. As for the cradle cap, rub in some olive oil or badger baby balm and leave it overnight and then gently wash the hair. I used to rub gently with a piece of cotton wool and it use to come off.

sorry for the typo's. Both my DS's are still up and I am really tired.

the spots are most likely milk spots. absoltuely normal, most babies get them and tyhey'll go soon enough,

you may be making it worse by putting chemicals on his skin.
jusdt wash him with warm water and it'll clear up by itself.

jjs2 · 02/01/2009 22:49

I agree - don't bother with the sudocrem - keep it for nappy rash.
Maybe aqueous cream if anything

jjs2 · 02/01/2009 22:51

Oh and for cradle cap, i put olive oil, leave for a couple of hours and then bath, massage in mild shampoo, leave for a few mins and then rinse with natural sponge. Worked for me anyway

believer07 · 02/01/2009 22:52

sorry if I sounded like a old mother telling you off was not meant.

MatNanPlusAbroad · 02/01/2009 22:57

See the GP as if it is baby acne they can give you special cream that will clear it up in a few days.

Olive oil is the only thing i would apply to face and scalp unless gp prescribed as the skin is so thin.

dd2 had baby acne at around 6-8wks. I left it and it settled on it's own (13wks now)

She also has a bit of cradle cap which I am treating with the olive oil method a la jjs2
