Fever with every cold virus - when does it end?

DD aged 3 has a new cold virus every couple of weeks - not that unusual for a child at nursery i know. However the problem is that generally she ends up with ear inflammation but not clear infection (never had burst drum) and a high temp which takes days to go. On the rare occasions that we do take antibiotics it just returns again a week later and obviously we are not keen to do this on so regular a basis anyway.

Now we are in france with french half of family for xmas and have already been to gp on xmas eve to be checked out and she has had high temp since then.

Just wondered how common this is? Anyone been through it and come out the other end (this is the second winter)? Anyone had any success with any solutions ?

Hello - you could be talking about my DD! She is also at Nursery and gets ear infections with every single cold.

If someone sneezes on the other side of town DD seems to get an ear infection, tonsillitis or a chest infection.

I don't know where to go with this one as it is our second winter on anti-bs every 10 mins. I have just posted a thread about it, I have been advised to use pro-biotics to build her immune system but do not know which ones so have asked on a new thread.

Good luck - it does your head in eh?

sorry to hear you are dealing with it too :-(. I have used probiotics in the past (biocare powder that i put in her milk) but i have to say no obvious difference. DD is very picky with food (coming from reflux as baby) and no doubt that doesnt help things though i do supplement her vit c / zinc and iron. We are now on day 4 of this particular fever and I am catching everything from her (6months pregnant and immune system clearly not functioning well).

Noone else had to deal with these frequent fevers?

I think so but I guess people are busy with the Xmas relatives etc.

We really do have twins! My DD is very picky with food linking directly back to reflux. She has just been sick on me due to coughing. Hmmmm, better out than in I guess.

I am sorry you have got it too, hope you feel better soon what with the new baby coming along.

Anyone else?
