It's not thrush btw.

She is BF, and her tongue looks normal on the outsides, but the middle bit of her tongue looks very smooth, a little pinker than the rest, and no little tastes bud spots poking up like the outside. its the whole central bit, starting about a few cms from the pointy tip, in a patch as far as the eye can see to the back.

We wondered if its where she sucks hard on the boob?

Google "strawberry tongue" on google images...which is a diagnostic symptom of Scarlett Fever. It is unlikely to be this - but worth ruling out.

scorpio1 · 23/12/2008 18:03

No, definitely not that. Thankyou anyway

DS1 had this (not Scarlett fever, though, phew) but we took him to GP who prescribed anti-biotics for it.

ds2 had this. the gp wondered if it wasn't the middle of his tongue that was pinker, but the outside that was whiter IYSWIM? So he thought it was maybe thrush.

Looking back, you are right, it could have been from breastfeeding

Interestingly, but probably unrelated, is that he now has geographic tongue.

scorpio1 · 23/12/2008 19:33

No, definitely not thrush (we have had that before, i am so scared of it i know straight away what it would be again!)

Not geographic tingue either. She is fine in herself, feeding, eating, everything. Not sore looking, she doesn't flinch when feeding/eating...strange. She is a strong sucker though when BF

just seen on your other thread some one mentions geographic tongue. His tongue didn't look like the one in that pic at the time, but does now.
