Advice on how to stop the bleeding please

Ds1 fell hard into the door frame about an hour ago and has cut his head.It bled quite a bit but after holding some kitchen roll on it for about 10 mins,it stopped. It doesn't look very nice but it's in his hair,so not easy to have a good look,he's had some Calpol and says it now doesn't hurt him and is acting totlly normal.
Anyway,it's started bleeding again a little bit so I'm wondering what I can do to stop it or whether it needs a stitch or 2.I've phoned NHS Direct for some advice but have been told it will be 6 hours before a nurse calls me back.
If anyone has any advice that would be great, thanks.

I wonder if you can get some steri strips and tape it together? I think they would do this at A&E - it might be worth trying to get some rather than wait for 3 hours at the hosp.

I think he might need some glue - if you are prepared to go to A&E.

Thanks.
Don't think I'd be able to use the strips myself as it's in his hair,so not easy to get to.
Think I'll phone A&E and see what they suggest.Really don't fancy sitting there for hours(near bedtime) when it may not even need anything.

The other thing is to plait, or tie the hair across the wound edges, to hold them together.
If you think it needs stiching then I would go to A+E now rather than waiting for the NHS direct call back.

They normally glue or stitch deep cuts on scalps.
If its not deep I would just apply pressure again until it stops.

Scalps are prone to bleed alot, should stop bleeding altogether quite soon,as the healing process starts.

Thanks.
Dh has just taken him to a&e as it's still bleeding.Just hoping they're not there too long.
Think I'll be much happier if they glue it as it will stop me worrying that it's going to keep bleeding through the night, especially as I'm quite squeamish.
