remind me, a cold is fine and they done need to see the gp?

she has been pretty mucousy the last few days, snotty, and a bit chesty/rattly from her throat area (you can feel it if you hold her iykwim) but chest feels fine, no crackles or rattles there.

no temp, is feeding ok.

but she is my precious last baby, i am worrying.

please reassure me

No temp, feeding ok, chest feels fine: sounds ok. Your 4th, therefore your intuition and experience both finely honed: sounds ok.

Worrying about a precious last baby? Sounds totally ok too

But if it changes, or you worry, or her temp goes up, or you worry, or she starts laboured/fast breathing, or you worry....get thee to the GP, thats what he's there for. You have a right to peace of mind!

My precious fourth born has also just had a cold with an occasional but hacking cough. No temperature but mucous a-plenty. He ate and slept and was clingy the rest of the time but he's almost over it now.

If it does start to affect her feeding, breathing or her chest starts rattling, then you can go to the GP. But if there's a chance that any worrying on your part will spoil your Christmas and she's no better by Tuesday then it's probably worth a trip to the surgery (you don't want to be faffing with out-of-hours surgeries on Christmas Day).

PS. What is P4B getting for Christmas? We've settled on a china money box and some wooden dinosaurs as we own virtually every toy made in the last 7 years.

P4B is getting some building blocks for when she is older, some clothes, a taggie blanket, soothers and a teether-rattle thing.

My precious 2nd born has a cold too, and I was just coming to MN to ask if I was being slapdash by not rushing him to A&E.

He has a temp, though. 38-39. And is off his solid food. Still drinking milk, but sleeping a lot... Eeek.

What are you going to do, go to doctor? I don't know, should I go too? It seems I'm forever going in there for no reason. And i have the same cold myself, so am slightly less neurotic than normal, as I know what he's got.

God, am toally worked up now, after hijacking your thread! Sorry.

not sure. dd4 is only 5 weeks old, so i am in two minds about it. if she is no better on monday will try and get a docs appointment if possible.

How is she misdee?

My P4B (but 7 months now) seems to be super-snotty again and is cutting more teeth (his 7th fgs!).

misdee · 21/12/2008 14:06

she seems ok. when she woke yesterday, she gave a big cough which cleared her throat and now seems pretty well. still a bit snotty, but def better.

didnt get to gp.
