Immunity boosters

DS is 14 months and has been in nursery for about 2 months. Since then, he's had a cold/cough/runny nose pretty much permanently. DP and I have also been sick - I don't think that all 3 of us have been well at the same time since DS started nursery.
I know this is to be expected at this time of year with a toddler at nursery but I'm fed up of being ill and fed up of DS being ill - he was really bad this weekend and it's heartbreaking to watch.
Can I do anything to help his immune system? He already eats as much fruit and veg as we can get down him. He loves sour fruit so has lots of satsumas and kiwi fruit and must get tons of vitamin C. Is it worth giving him extra vitamins?

I wouldn't! They don't really do much and he is too young. As long as he is eating plenty of fruit and veg there should be no reason to. I thought giving extra veg and fruit mght help my son who has a weaker immune system than everyone else due to a medical condition. The immune system is complicated as I found out a couple of years ago and its all to do with different t cell and B cells and other unpronounceable components. My sonwas given antibiotics last year and has to take them during the winter months. This year has been dreadful for colds and coughs so much so that my son managed to pick one up and couldnt shed it for five weeks!! the best you can do is make sure you wash his hands regularly when he is at home and you and the rest of the family do the same. I found washing all the things my son could touch, eg door frames and tables with antibacterial wipes helped as the germs are all around. If you are worried that something might be wrong speak to your GP
