My dd bought herself a lovely hat on Saturday, and wore it constantly all weekend. This morning, the skin on her forehead, ears and cheeks where the hat touches is rough and itchy. All I had in my woefully inadequate first aid kit is some insect bite stuff left over from the summer. She put some of that on and it felt a bit better, but what should I buy today in case it hasn't gone away by this evening? She's never reacted to anything before - no allergies or sensitivities at all.

And is there anything I can wash the hat in that might stop it happening again? It's a lovely hat!

Hopeful bump.

Take the hat away. The itching will probably clear up of its own accord. Otherwise ask at the chemist's.

Thanks. I know that really, but it's such a lovely hat, ad she looks so fab in it that I was hoping for a miracle!

Any other thoughts?
