DS has just finished a week of antibiotics. 2 days ago he started with what I presumed was thrush in nappy area. He has had frequent acidic poos due to only eating fruit which didnt help. I was using clotrimazole cream I had left over from the last time he had anti/b's, then barrier cream. I am dunking in bath to clean after dirty nappy, air drying and as much bare bum time as possible. Yesterday he was seen by GP to check his chest. By this point we could not apply cream to his bum without 2 adults. One to hold him down , the other to put cream on. He is walking like John Wayne and very miserable. GP saw how distressed he was with it so didnt actually check his rash as we couldnt get his trousers off. She thought perhaps the cream I was using is ineefective as it had been open a couple of months. She prescribed canesten with hydrocortisone in, oral nystatin and nurofen for pain. Before bed we used the cream twice. The existing rash is still red raw but possibly not as swollen looking today, but is has spread right down to mid thigh. It is really really angry viv red and rough/pimply. Whilst I am pretty convinced it is thrush, would you just keep on with treatment or try get it looked at bearing in mind doc didnt actually see it?

If you?ve any concern/doubt I would get it seen. Even if they say to just continue with the same at least you will feel more comfortable knowing it has been looked at.
