What's wrong with my 5m old?

She's lying in her cot not sleeping, just staring into space and wriggling. I expect the not sleeping thing is normal for most babies-but not mine.

She has been alert and chirpy all day but when I went to get her undressed for bed I noticed a rash on her stomach. She didnt have a temperature.

I fed her a new food today. Some Hipp chicken and carrot. She's never had chicken before-could she have a bad tummy?

what sort of rash?

if she had a bad tummy i'm sure she'd let you know about it

i expect she just woke up and had a look around.

like a heat rash. I may have over dressed her today. Skin on tummy was red with slightly redder pimples. Redness of surrounding skin goes away when pressed but pimples don't really.

She's had a bit of exema in the past so it could just be the exema pimples

ok. have you done the glass test to be sure?

misi · 08/12/2008 23:57

I need to go to bed I am afraid, but if the glass test is ok and she is alert and focused when awake, no fever/hotness etc, then just keep an eye on her. if the rash does not disappear by morning, then take her to your GP just to be safe (its what I reccommend to any client with kids especially her age as apparently, I am extra cautious when it comes to kids???)
usual stuff for heat rash though if you feel it will help and is that, cool down and dry off etc.

as a side thought, have you changed nappy brands recently too?

how did you get on?
