Does your baby have indented nails ?

I was bathing my almost 7 month old last night and noticed the nails of her middle three fingers on both hands are quite indented. So much so they look like she trapped them in a drawer or slammed a hammer on them, Ouch ( but I know she hasn't done either) but they are certainly not what her nails were like previously ( at least I don't remember last time I cut them about 2 weeks ago).

My Dh suggested that they are indented because she is always chewing her fingers and she may have damaged them. Plausable, I thought.

Then, I was drying her after the bath I noticed that her large toenails are going the same way, though less obvious yet. ( She doesn't really chew her feet either. So possibly out with DH's theory ???? )

Well, I Had a quick search online and the only thing I came up with was an iron defficiency which I must say shocked me a little.

Other than this she seems in pretty good health and a very happy, lively, active baby though does need 3 x 1 hour naps during the day and sleeps 12 hours at night? Which I thought was normal?? ?? . She is also, on the 75th percentile for weight and height, and pretty much eats all her lunches and dinners ( homemade purees) and breakfast of porridge and fruit and drinks plenty of formula milk especially for 6 months and older babies.

If I ask the health visitors I know they will think I am overreacting and just being a precious mother. Maybe I am, but I don't like to think that something is wrong and I am missing it. Her nails do really look strange??

Any one had this experience or any thoughts they could share??
Thanks ..
